During my college years, I had the pleasure of studying a semester abroad in Madrid. While there, I experienced everything from the Spanish royal wedding to the terrorist train bombings that occurred on March 11, 2004 (11-M). I made some great friends from all over the world who were also exchange students at my university. But mainly, I fell in love with the food, the wines, and Spanish culture. I have always considered Madrid my second home, and at one point in my life, even gave serious thought to moving there after I graduated. Although I did not move, I promised myself that I would come back to Madrid as often as possible during my lifetime.
Over the years, I have kept true to that promise and now we are headed to Madrid once again to visit friends and family. We are particularly excited about our upcoming dinner at the two-star Michelin rated restaurant Diverxo where chef David Muñoz is sure to treat us with a meal we will never forget. Yes, that badass you see in the picture is chef Muñoz!
As an added bonus, my husband Fernando and I booked a stay at the Ribera del Duero wine region where we will get a chance to visit a few of the wineries in the area and participate in various tastings. For updates on our trip, follow us on Twitter and Instagram where you will be able to keep up with our latest eats. As soon as I get back, I promise to give you a full recap of the trip with recommendations on where to eat and drink in Madrid.
