Miramar has a new special neighbor. By popular demand, Caffé Melanzana opens its doors at 601 Miramar Street. Its owners Myrella Aragón and Alessandro Calenda inaugurate this space for conversation and good eats. “The idea behind Caffé Melanzana came up prior to Melanzana Bistro Pizzeria since the neighbors frequently talked about Panaderia Iberia, a bakery which existed years ago in this same corner” states Myrella. The concept behind Caffé Melanzana is similar to a coffee shop. The featured coffee is Hacienda San Pedro served by a group of baristas trained by them and paired with a complete menu.
Focusing on breakfast, the menu combines traditional dishes with a novel twist, for example, the Croque Monsieur crepes with ham, mozzarella & smoked gouda bechamel and the Croque Madame (salmon gravlax, mozzarella, smoked gouda bechamel, and a fried egg. Also, the Brioche French Toasts with Nutella, blueberries, banana and nuts. Also available are vegetable omelets with various hams and cheeses. Each course can be enjoyed with a variety of side dishes such as toasted baguettes (white or wheat bread), salmon graviax, and the fruits of the season.
The casual and relaxed restaurant seats 40 guests. The best part about Caffé Melanzana is that it encompasses various establishments in one place. It can serve as a bakery for those looking for a cup of coffee and artisanal breads. There are also a variety of sweets and pastries available. Also, there is a special area reserved for the preparation of sandwiches and wraps where two soups a day will be offered. And, of course, their famous brick oven pizza can be purchased here as well.
