Birriola is the brainchild of Joseam Laboy, Jonathan Laboy, and Alexander Petrovich whose deep love of craft brews led them to open the popular craft beer bar. When Birriola opened its doors to the public back in July 2016, it came as no surprise that it was an instant hit. Although there were many bars where you could get beers in the area, the concept of a legit craft beer bar was unknown to Ponce. This untapped market proved to be the basis for Birriola’s success.
Birriola is brimming with options for casual sippers to beer connoisseurs. Just take a look at the variety of options on the beer dispenser wall! The establishment only offers beers on tap which change on a weekly basis. The selection is listed on their chalkboard menu and features a good variety of styles and flavors profiles. These rotating taps include local and well-known brews (Lagunitas, Founders, Harpoon, Abita, etc) as well as, exclusive hard-to-find seasonal beers like Founders KBS and Bells Hopslam. Once a month, they host the Made in Puerto Rico Tap Takeover which showcases some of the best local beers prepared by Señorial Brewing, Boxlab Brewing, Ocean Lab, REBL Brewery, Dragon Stone and Fok Brewing. If you are not in the mood for beer, they also have a limited wine selection and sangria available.
After kicking a few brews back, you are bound to get hungry. Don’t worry, Birriola’s got you covered. They offer everything from refreshing ceviche and delicious cheesy risotto balls to skirt steak strips infused with caramelized beer and vodka. All the tapas have been carefully thought out to complement the different types of beers featured on tap.
Pet lovers rejoice! Birriola is pet friendly so feel free to bring your four legged buddy along. Birriola opens Wednesday and Thursday from 4:00pm to 11:00pm, Friday and Saturday from 5:00pm to 12:30am, and Sundays from 2:00pm to 9:00pm
