For the past few years, the culinary scene in Miramar has experienced a revival. It is now home to various up-and-coming restaurants, as well as, a food truck park. Whatever your mood: Peruvian, Mexican, Argentinian, Italian, or Puerto Rican cuisine, they have it all. However, there is also another booming scene that is making waves in Miramar. I am talking about the rise of the speakeasy bars in the area. Sure there are plenty of regular bars, but these two I am about to mention are truly worth a visit. Ideal for a pre-dinner or after dinner drink, or just to stay there and make a night out of it.
Bar La Unidad
Located at Cuevillas street, right next to the restaurant Soda Estudio de Cocina is Bar La Unidad. There is no sign identifying the establishment other than an unassuming tinted black door with a symbol in the center: three interlocking rings. Step inside and you are transported to an elegant dimly lit wooden bar surrounded by old style leather chairs and tables taking you back to the 1920’s. There you can expect incredible cocktails, a decent selection of bar food, great music, and friendly service. The best part: they make a point out of not overcrowding the establishment, which makes this a cozy bar you never want to leave. We recommend you order a Cortadito (an old fashioned made with Woodford Reserve, flavored with espresso coffee, chocolate bitters and white chocolate shavings) or the classic dirty martini.

Oveja Negra
Located inside the Mexican restaurant Bartola is Oveja Negra. To get to the bar you need to find the secret entrance hidden inside the restaurant behind a black liquor shelf. The shelf in reality is a door to the bar. Once inside, you are in a prohibition era style bar with vintage décor and soft music. The bar offers seductive cocktails and an intimate ambiance that will keep you coming back for more. Hungry? No problem, just ask for the food menu at the bar.
